(There is a link at the bottom of the page to calculate your BMI)
Can I come in and just buy the medicine?
No, you need a prescription
Can my GP prescribe it?
No, it is not available on the NHS.
How is it administered?
A simple once-daily dose with a pen device. The dose is adjusted using a dial on the pen. This will be explained to you and you can also view a video
on how to use the pen. An injection is made into the abdomen.
We will demonstrate and explain this process to you.
How long will each pen last?
This depends on the dose that you are at. At the full dose a box, of 5 pens will last a month. However you have to titrate the dose upwards, so you should find that a box will last longer when you initially start.
Is it safe?
Yes. This medicine has been used in a number of countries to help weight loss. It has then passed rigorous clinical trials and has been deemed safe by authorities in USA and UK and given a license for weight loss.
How much weight could I lose?
If you use the pen and follow a calorie-controlled diet, and take exercise, you should lose at least 5% of your body weight. We find that most patients tend to lose up to a stone a month.
Can anybody take this medicine?
No, a full medical consultation must be taken to see if you are a suitable patient. You may not be able to take it if you have other medical conditions. These will be discussed by the prescriber.
What are the side effects?
The main side effects are nausea. This usually goes away as you continue treatment.
Who cannot take this medication?
The prescriber will discuss this with you but includes people with eating disorders. Pregnant or breastfeeding women. Patients on diabetic or thyroid medication.
How long does the consultation take?
The first consultation takes about an hour.
Why does the initial consultation take an hour?
During the initial consultation, the prescribing pharmacist will take a full medical history and discuss all aspects of the medication. They will also weigh you, take your blood pressure and measure your blood sugar. They will also demonstrate how to use the pen device. They will discuss weight loss and goal setting. They will discuss support for you on your weight loss journey. Everything to make sure that you get the best out of the program.
Subsequent consultations will be much shorter.

I charge £250 for the initial consultation. This includes 2 pens, a box of needles, a sharps bin, support material and access to the weight loss support program and telephone helpline.
Subsequent pens will cost £100 per pen.
There is a reduction if you are buying a box of 5 pens.
